Why do we need licenses?

Though Blue Husky Studios promotes an open-source environment, there are those who would wish to claim our creations as their own. As such, we protect the content with minimal licenses.

The Blue Husky Public Share license is the default one used by Blue Husky Studios. As such, if no license is specified, then assume this one is used.

The license essentially boils down to these main points:

  1. This is not your product, and you need to respect that
    1. You must make sure that if you put anyone else's stuff in it, you do so with their permission, or under Fair Use
    2. If you do include someone else's stuff, you can't claim you made that
    3. You are guaranteed you're getting this product for free
  2. You can still do what you want with this
    1. You still have to say who made it in the first place
    2. You get all the freedoms in this license along with this product
    3. You have to include this license when you redistribute this product
  3. This license is overridden by governmental laws
  4. The original creator is not responsible for bad things that might happen because you used this product

CC BY-SA 3.0

The Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike 3.0 license is the backup one used by Blue Husky Studios if the Blue Husky Public Share license cannot be applied.

The license essentially boils down to these main points:

You are free to:

to copy, distribute and transmit the work
to adapt the work
to make commercial use of the work

Under the following conditions:

You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work).
Share Alike
If you alter, transform, or build upon this work, you may distribute the resulting work only under the same or similar license to this one.

With the understanding that:

Any of the above conditions can be waived if you get permission from the copyright holder.
Public Domain
Where the work or any of its elements is in the public domain under applicable law, that status is in no way affected by the license.
Other Rights
In no way are any of the following rights affected by the license:
  • Your fair dealing or fair use rights, or other applicable copyright exceptions and limitations;
  • The author's moral rights;
  • Rights other persons may have either in the work itself or in how the work is used, such as publicity or privacy rights.
For any reuse or distribution, you must make clear to others the license terms of this work. The best way to do this is with a link to this web page.
